Hi, My name is Martin R. Weber just in case you have missed it on the homepage. The ABOUT page is usually a marketing device that the website owners use to sell themselves.  They list all the awards that their photography has garnered, the schools, workshops and famous photographers/artist they have studied under. They also include a list of clients and institutions that have hired them to take photographs or have bought one of their art pieces for their permanent collection. While this is fine and dandy this is not the purpose of this website.  If you want to buy one of my photographs or hire me to do a job (if you can find me) then great. If you just enjoy looking at my vision of the world around me then that would even be better.

This website is about a journey,  Martin R. Weber’s journey (see I have included my name twice in one paragraph so I am not without any marketing skills.)

In every persons life there is usually a circumstance  or turning point that will have a significant impact on how you see yourself, the world, and how you interact with society in general.  As a person of this world( if this sounds a bit too New Age, forgive me) I have had such events that have shaped my life and how I see and interact with the world around me.  The first event which is beyond my control is that I have inherited a peripheral nerve disease called Charcot-Marie-Tooth.  The medical establishment has told me that I may have a normal life span but that I may lose the limited mobility that I now possess at any time. This disease while some may feel is a curse has actually freed me from following the normal life journey that most people tend to take. I did not have to worry about getting married, having children, a mortgage etc.

The second factor that has shaped my life and vision is my family. I was blessed with a family that has supported my rather unorthodox life journey and taught me that it was alright to reject the expectations that any society puts on their people.  Lastly , I have met many wonderful people throughout this journey that have influence me and given assistance in my time of need. 

This website is meant to be a visual representation of my life journey. I have lived in 9 different countries and have traveled in a few more.   It begins for obvious reasons with my digital work.  I have over twenty years of photographic negatives and slides in storage at my sister’s house which I will post when the day comes when I can’t physically continue with this quest. In the future I will include a blog/story about my adventures. 

About the physical layout of this website.

When I was much younger I enjoyed going to museums to look at the art hanging on the walls. I vividly remember first looking at the little place card with the title of the piece and the artist’s name. Then I would look at the piece. I found this a silly way to experience art. Therefore, I designed this website with a minimal amount of words.
